If you’re here you want to know where SoChange came from
So let me tell you the story!
Basically I got tired of waiting for companies to treat their neighbors and the environment better and feeling powerless to do anything about it. It seemed like everyone around me felt the same way. Companies weren't improving on their own and politicians certainly weren't making them do it. Even companies that wanted to do good told me they couldn’t afford to do so if their customers didn’t let them know it was important. So what was left?
Mass consumer action! We all know how business works. If we show companies’ they can make money by being more sustainable then they will do it. So why wasn’t it happening? Taking an honest look at my own spending I knew that I didn’t always buy from the most cause friendly stores because I didn’t feel like my vote of support for their policies was being counted.
It was almost impossible for me to tell a store that I was shopping with them because of their positive social and environmental impact and even if I could have I wouldn’t have been able to make a direct impact on an issue I cared about by shopping there.
But what if I could? What if we could tell companies we were shopping with them precisely because of their good behavior and help them make specific improvements to do even better?
What if the millions of citizens that care about preventing global warming or making sure the kid down the street gets the on the job training she needs to be employable started to feel like they could make a direct impact on those issues by choosing to spend at certain stores. We would collectively help change business impact........socially.
That is what we are doing here at SoChange. Just trying to help people improve their communities and the environment one purchase at a time. A little idea with transformative potential.
Let us know how we can help you use your change to make a little social change. ;)
